Dr. Catherine Thomasson is the executive director of Physicians for Social Responsibility. She is a 1983 graduate of the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Thomasson is an internal medicine physician by training, but has interwoven her clinical work with political work, primarily with Oregon PSR from 2000-2006 as president of the board and 2006-2008 as co-president of the national PSR board. She helped to successfully call for early closure of Oregon’s last coal-burning power plant, served on numerous boards and advisory committees for health and safe water issues in Oregon. She brought the health voice to the Climate Change City Plan of Portland and to state coalitions addressing transportation and health.  She also taught climate change and public health at Portland State University.
